Julie Kopp
Julie’s work focuses on designing standards-based curriculum, instruction and assessment, increasing the quality and depth of classroom instruction and fostering quality classroom discourse. Julie uses study groups, collegial circles and workshops as vehicles for professional development. Engaging teachers in reflective practice through action research, peer reviews and collaborative analysis of student work is a critical part of her work.

Throughout her teaching career, Julie has been driven by a passion for exploring the use of reading, writing, listening and speaking in developing articulate, thoughtful individuals. She spent twelve years developing her understanding of the reading and writing process as an elementary teacher. She has written an article on developing literate learning communities in a first grade classroom and is working on a prototype on student-led discourse for Communities for Learning. Julie also works part time as a Curriculum & Assessment Coach at Penfield High School in a suburb of Rochester, New York.
